Emily Joy Founder of INK MENTOR & CEO of DOLLISTIC

With 20+ years in the beauty industry and 10 years managing teams for Fortune 500 companies, Emily Joy’s corporate business experience makes her a trailblazing mentor in the PMU industry. Emily’s driving force is bridging the gap between premier artists and seasoned artists in the micropigmentation arena. She is a chair member for the “Young Professionals Committee” for the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP). She also served as the “Northeast Chairman” for the American Academy of Micropigmentation (AAM) for over two years.

Emily received primary education from Beau Institute of Permanent and Corrective Cosmetics and received microblading training from Branko Babic (PhiBrows), at his first United States Academy in 2015. She has received countless advanced PMU certifications from master trainers all over the globe. She is a licensed and insured PMU Artist in DC, VA, and TX. Additionally, Emily is certified in both First Aid and CPR.

Ms. Joy studied Interior Design, Graphic Design, Fashion, and Fine Art Photography at both Kendall College of Art and Design in Michigan and SACI in Florence, Italy. A desire to expand her knowledge of beauty, skincare, and makeup led her to an accreditation for Esthetics at the Aveda Institute. Fresh out of school, Emily applied for her dream job and was selected, out of hundreds of other estheticians, to be the one and only Anastasia Brow Artist in the Midwest. She received brow artistry training with celebrity eyebrow legend Anastasia Soare (Anastasia of Beverly Hills), the woman behind the eyebrows of Penelope Cruz, JLO, Kim Kardashian, and Oprah.

After working with Anastasia’s team, Emily found herself on the management side of the luxury corporate spa business. She has hired, trained, and managed at some of the most exclusive luxury corporate spas and salons in the nation, including the Four Seasons Hotel Miami, Ritz Carlton DC, Bliss Spa at the W Hotel DC.

With her knowledge and her strong business background, Ms. Joy followed her heart and launched her business, District Dollhouse Inc. (now known as DOLLISTIC) in 2013. She directed DC’s Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs (DCRA) Body Art initiatives. After 5 long years, in 2018, Emily successfully led DCRA to implement Art Regulations and Licensing. DOLLISTIC proudly became the first-ever licensed Micropigmentation business in Washington, DC. Emily’s team of artists were the first to take DC’s standardized licensing test and first to obtain DC’s Micropigmentation Licensing. Currently, DOLLISTIC’s PMU posse is revolutionizing the cosmetic tattoo industry with their reputation for unparalleled artistry and advanced trainings. Emily is expanding DOLLISTIC’s second location to South Texas in 2022.
